Hello. We do not know one another. But my son died, age 14, in 2007. And, over time, I read lots of crap about grief and mourning. It was all terrible. And most was infuriating. Exceptions? There was one paper in Scientific American (2008) about how there is essentially zero evidence for the 'stages of grief' narrative. That confirmed my experience. And there was An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination, written by a woman named Elizabeth McCracken. And not much else. Actually, nothing. But, there was your essay too. So, thanks for it.
